#147505 RE: Colonel Sanders #147502

With Intel having no phone CPU's/SOC's, does it really matter?

How do you think images like this impact the perception of Intel's technological capability?

Or press releases like this?

Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM) through its subsidiary, Qualcomm Datacenter Technologies, Inc., today announced commercial sampling and conducted a live demonstration of the world’s first 10nm server processor. As the first in the Qualcomm Centriq™ product family, the Qualcomm Centriq 2400 series has up to 48-cores and is built on the most advanced 10nm FinFET process technology.

Do you think that Intel calling its comparable technology "14nm" when its competitors call it "10nm" helps or hurts public perception of Intel's technology capabilities? If you were working in Intel marketing, what benefit would you see the company's brand value/perception to cling to the "14nm" marketing name for your technology, or "10nm" for your next one?

Remember, these nodes are all marketing names to begin with, so why would any company shoot itself in the foot like this?
