Forbes: "Lampert Just Took A Play From Bill Ackman's Playbook"
"Billionaire investor Edward Lampert just took a play from Billionaire investor Bill Ackman's playbook. Lampert is averaging down and pumping more money into Sears Holding Corp ($SHLD), which has been a lousy investment for him... so far. Mr. Lampert just gave Sears another $500 million lifeline in an attempt to save it from going under. In Wall Street parlance, that practice is known as averaging down (when you add to a losing position). The problem with averaging down is that if the investment doesn't turn around, and move in your favor, you can get wiped out."
"Both Lampert & Ackman love to average down and have suffered some huge (very public) wins and losses over the years. Most notably, Sears (SHLD), Borders (Bankrupt), JC Penny (JCP), & Valeant Pharmaceuticals"
