Actually there are several (I am one).

Unfortunately informed opinions and even factual statements only seem to be heeded or even acknowledged if they confirm uninformed hopes and desires (confirmation bias at its most extreme).

I guess this is the nature of the post-truth world in which we now have the misfortune to live.
