I was a little surprised or maybe more disappointed that there was no European counter-offer, but GE is holding s really good hand on this one.

GE has pull with the FAA, although, no one has as much influence as Boeing. If Boeing wants AM parts on their planes, the FAA is going to hustle to make that happen.(to the extent that any federal agency hustles to do anything). Too many American jobs on the line that could be lost if Boeing loses contracts to Airbus. So anything less would also be politically detrimental for anyone not on-board.

Most other countries have their own equivalent of the FAA. The vast majority reference the FAA regulations as their standard, with perhaps some minor amendments. The EU not to be outdone, has it's own which are extremely close if not identical in most respects to the FAA's regulations.

So if the FAA approves parts made with a new process, it will be generally accepted by the global aerospace industry.
