Carl Edwards is expected to announce his retirement from NASCAR racing effective immediately.

As first reported by FoxSports.com, Edwards will leave the Joe Gibbs Racing No. 19 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup ride. He will reportedly be replaced by reigning XFINITY Series champion Daniel Suarez.

JGR has scheduled a pair of press conferences Wednesday morning.

The 37-year-old Edwards spent 13 years in the Cup Series and won 28 times in 445 starts.

He won three races last season and was in contention for a first Cup Series championship until 10 laps to go in the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
