I usually buy small lots and keep cash on hand if I bought too high. I like to buy on the bid and usually place my buys a tick above the largest lot if the price is reasonable. I usually never buy in the AM . I find that stocks are usually cheaper in the afternoon........
Its called laddering.........stagger buys or sells and get an average either way........
Stock prices today thru Jan 3 will be un realistic IMHO due to the holidays .
