I am still trying to understand where all the hundreds of millions for Universal Service Fees charged on each and every copper phone line in US go to since they were originally allocated to the task which you mentioned -- wiring the schools. It is just like the most state lotteries proceeds that are allowed because they went to senior citizens and schools. Right.

I gotten so fed up that I just dropped 4 $17 per month copper lines from Verizon and the associated USFs with 2 www.Vonage.com voice over IP lines that use Cisco Analog terminal adapters to connect your phones.
