Hook, I am a former Democrat and have been an Independent since the party sold its soul to protect William Jefferson Clinton. I still vote straight Democrat for local judges because they will allow a Plaintiff to have a full and complete trial. However, that is as far as it goes regarding the two party system.
I personally could care less how the rest of the world views us. We have gone overboard to help the rest of the world to the detriment of our own citizens for a 100 years. If you have never been to France, I encourage you to go. Visit the numerous cemeteries that house our Americans who gave the ultimate sacrifice for America and the world. America rebuilt most of EU after WW II on a handshake that the countries involved would repay the costs. Only 2 countries upheld their bargain.
America has gone out of its way to help those who love and respect our values. Cheating is not a value in America. Any country or individual that refers to us as Ugly Americans for enforcing our laws to protect those that play by the rules are not worth the worry. I have spent half of my life helping folks that need legal services on a pro bono basis, but when individuals continued to behave in a manner to find themselves in trouble, I cut them loose. I did not terminate helping because I disliked them. I cut them loose because they were hindering my system for helping others who were trying to advance their lives the correct way. For every person I cut loose that bad mouthed me, I had 10 that praised me.
Hook, I have always liked and respected you, but in this instance, I have to disagree.
