I wish it was that simple. I live in The Netherlands and we have our own clown. In fact, the populists are everywhere in the western world. It has much to do with our capitalist economy, where competition and shareholders (!) force companies to maximalize profits and in the modern world that companies can move the unaducated production to low cost countries like China, Vietnam etc. So the uneducated workers lose their jobs. They blame foreigners and politics (but don't complain if they can buy cheap cloths made by children), but politicians are just facilitating the rules made by the companies. So there are 3 solutions: socialists say we have to get rid of the capitalist system, liberals say we have to transform our economy from uneducated labor to educated labor into the new economy (energy, ICT), and populists say we bring your jobs back. Of course they can't, but it's the message people want to hear. We saw that in the UK with the brexit, and now Trump. And I'm afraid more will follow.
