I am dubious.

My notes from the April 2014 Investors Meeting in Charlotte.

"35% of revenue is Beef. Cattle prices are not competitive. Twice as expensive as US. Pricing protection allows SIAF to be “inefficient”. SIAF is not grain-raised animals like US. 11 new countries (Australia, NZ, etc.) were allowed to export beef to China in 2013. Protection from US should last another 10 years. If US allowed in, it would be trouble because they can undercut SIAF’s price."

They probably knew this day was coming sooner than "10 years away" which is why we diluted the crap out of ourselves to build the abattoir in the first place. Our best selling point may be the Halal meat, which requires a live animal be slaughter and prepared according to protocol.

Make no mistake, this isn't a win.

I agree. I suspect that the Chinese population will remember the US mad cow disease scare to some extent. The shift in SJAP breed has taken place too.
