vines3: NeoMedia's 'technology' was to use an indexed barcode to move an advertising message from print media to online media using mobile barcode scanning. At the time, indexed mobile barcode scanning and QR codes were well-known. That is what QR codes were designed to do. The uniqueness was the tie to advertising.

However, for only a brief period in 2010 did they try to use this technology and it was never adopted in NeoMedia's backend engine. So, they had a 'technology' they did not use.
