Before I went whacking it down, I'd do it over a date-range of a week. Not the last 24 hours. Including Sunday in there isn't a good sample.

Doug suggested a good tiered approach. If I see a member that is really deserving of extra posts (yes, I play favorites -- it's called business) but he doesn't want to pony up the cash for the extra features, but is adding excellent content, I'd like to be able to increase his allotment.

Edit: Sorry I wasn't around today, guys. I was absolutely slammed with work today.

Well, that depends if you want to take a run @ RB or not. If not, then by all means chop the posts for FREEBIES altho MATT is correct...going by posts made over a summer weekend is not a good judge of the volume that freebies post. When I started here, FREEBIERS were only allowed something between 5 & 10. You & Matt implemented a bonus scheme for FREEBIES based on new members joining up or some such thing & iHub settled @ 18 posts for FREEBIES. At one time this increase to 18 posts/day was to be for a finite period & then revert back to the 5 or 10 as it was originally. I think it was a wise move to keep it @ 18 as giving something for free is always good promo; taking it away later...not so good promo. So IMHO, a good decision was made to leave it @ 18.

Having said all that, if you truly want to take a run @ RB and ultimately increase your revenue stream by signing up premium members, IMHO, you will have no choice but to give unlimited posting on stock boards to FREEBIES. Only then will you be able to attract the volumes here based on the speed of the site & other FREEBIE features from which you can convert them to premium subscribers. The trick is to get them here in the first place & you need a carrot ie unlimited posting on stock boards only. Once they are here then you can "work" them into the value added features. I know that you don't see it that way & perhaps you don't want to take a run at RB and that is also OK but you got to do something to get the masses here & FREE works to get them here.

IMHO of course

Bob Z.....

I am a little confused here.

You stated....

In the past 24 hours, 13 free members have posted more than 10 posts. 294 have posted more than 0 and less than 11.

If that is true, then why is it such a big issue as to whether the "limit" of postings gets lowered? If less than 5% of the posters are posting more than 10 posts in a day, is it really that big of a deal? And if the number of posts per day were increased to 50, wouldn't it be true that only SOME of those 13 free members MAY have posted more that the 'given' 18 free posts?

I guess what I am trying to say is, "Just how much is it that it costs IHUB each and every time a member posts a message? Is it that "cost prohibitive"?

Just trying to understand the 'dynamics' here!

BTW, good to see you posting here again Bob!

Bob. If you want to increase your membership.
Getting to paying memberships from freebies will take some steps.

You don't knock down the amount of freebie posts.
You ramp them up.
It's called stickiness in the marketing arena.

First of all you need to attract them here.

Second they need to have the freedom to post at least 40 posts a day if they want.
Preferably more!
Otherwise they will put up with RB no matter how bad it runs.
I can point you out to posts from stock groups posters that prove that statement!

You need to increase the happy hour times during trading hours frequently.

You follow the above and within 2 to 3 months your membership will increase greatly.

Cut back?

You aren't the only game in town.

I can point to many posts that have suggested other sites for certain stock groups to go to

The freedom to post if they want to post a lot that day matters to these people.

They will put up with bad formats.

Bad customer care.

85% of them will never post a lot anyways.

But to them it's what they were use to that counts.
That stickiness comes into play again!

Get them here.

Show what you have.

Then the conversion to paying membership starts.

Many people once they get a taste of success, ruin future success, by pulling back on marketing.

Being less agressive.

Choice is yours.

You and Matt have built a good site here.

I hate to see what could EXCEL, just be good.
