#52460 RE: JimmyBendrix #52458

Not sure how all this comes together because, according to prior declarations, Samsung licensed their QDot tech from Nanosys (& presumably[?] passed that on to Hansol). I don't know if Samsung added or substituted anything else to the mix to make it Cd-free or not, but at one point, the Nanosys website stated they make Cd-free QDots...other than the 1/2-&-1/2 declaration, I wasn't able to find that same clause when I looked again today. Maybe Nanosys has more than one line of product formulations, which might help to explain things. As you say, OEM's are always looking for the next-greatest product, so maybe[?] the prior iteration had its limitations or they just want something better. In any case, I wouldn't be any-too-sure about counting Nanosys out...to my knowledge, they are still the #1 independent QD supplier in the marketplace & as far as I can tell, still command credibility from OEM's. That's not to say there isn't room at the top for others (like us), or that they are technologically immortal, just that they do deserve a measure of credit & shouldn't be underestimated. Unlike QDVision, I haven't really seen anything about Nanosys lately that would indicate they are in peril or in dire straights...no moreso than any other fledgling tech company anyway.
