#7457 RE: yanquitrader #7456

I believe China will play a much bigger role in Marathon's strategy moving forward than anyone realizes (including Erich/Doug a couple of months ago). Patent litigation has moved overseas and away from primarily litigating domestically. This has been apparent with the accumulation of patents focusing more on the foreign landscape i.e. Germany, France and Asia. What I don't think was realized originally was that the business of trademarks is seeing the same opportunities that Erich saw in the patent space a couple of decades prior, especially in China. What I think this means for Marathon is an opportunity to enter the trademark space with easier discussions (reference Erich's most recent interview), continued annual increases in trademark applications in China and a more visible/predictable revenue stream for bigger potential investors. I don't see Marathon exiting the patent litigation space in any fashion, but I do see Marathon making trademarks a bigger percentage of potential revenues.
