I think there is another aspect of Judge Sweeney's ruling that may be even more important in the long run.
In my opinion, it is now very likely that Judge Sweeney or another judge will approve the release of government documents dating back to the federal takeover of FnF in 2008. We will learn why the government expected massive losses (that never happened); that is to say, we will find out exactly how the econometric models were designed that gave these inaccurate forecasts. I suspect that the models were M_A_N_I_P_U_L_A_T_E_D to project losses so huge that the federal government seemingly had no choice but to take control.
