GE buying Arcam put to rest some worries I was harboring about CMCs taking over the turbine, GE must believe metal is here to stay for the foreseeable future which means its here to stay for all the other players too... The only "Bear in the Bush" might be that some other metal technology takes the lead but I think Arcam is in a good position now.
GEs bid should also put to rest any doubts that some had that Arcam could not / would not be sold off to the highest bidder due to it being European or having a close association with Sweden's national pride... Arcam will now always be viewed as an attractive takeover target...
GE holding 14-20% would ensure we get all of their business but would not be such a high holding that the P&Ws of the world would consider Arcam in the enemy camp...
So while the drop back to the low 20's would be painful for some and for my few thousand shares I am holding for the end game, it would allow me to repurchase the rest of my earlier position at a very attractive price....
