Many? There are 3 published US patents. Only 1 of the 3 could be applied outside of contact lenses.

Patents are irrelevant. All that matters is the ability to commercialize their IP, which to date, EPGL has been unable to do...

Commercialization does NOT require patent approval. If they had anyone seriously interested in any of the technology a deal would have already been made, IMO...
