I completely disagree with your statement that Fowler's departure is a bad sign. Until recently he brought value and innovation, but at this point he has become a liability to this company.
Although it was his responsibility to take SPORT through the Regulatory process, he freely admitted that he had no experience in that area but was "excited about the challenge". The person responsible for CE Mark and FDA Approval should really find their "excitement" somewhere else in their life.
SPORT is his baby and I believe his attitude is that no one knows better than he what it should look like and what it should be capable of. Unfortunately, that is the definition of a tinkerer and to a tinkerer the object is never completed. There is always something to improve, something else to be added. But even a science project needs boundaries and Fowler would never see that with SPORT.
He is a brilliant man and extraordinary surgeon and that is where his talents lie, not in a startup venture trying to bring a "product" to market. In seeking perfection of that product, I believe he has been one of the primary drivers of enhancing functionality but delaying entry to the marketplace.
Finally, for whatever reason, he walked off the set at the most crucial point in filming this epic. Maybe he left on his own or maybe he was pushed but who did he leave in the lurch? He left "us", his adoring fans! The ones who paid for the whole production were written off without a second thought! But I guess I do remember he made that clear once before. It's a Public Company but the damn stockholders are a real nuisance, always pushing to get the robot finished and asking why things cost so much. What a pain in the ass they are!!
Well thank you for your skills Doc. It sucks that you walked with no comment from your court, we maybe could've benefitted a bit from your insight. But hey, look at the bright side, no more aggravation from the peanut gallery.....you know, the ones who paid the bills!
So no tears from me! As I see it, we need a replacement for the whole bunch of them so we can get this show back on the road! JMO
