Do you know for a fact Carl has purchased a vacation home?

After spending significant time doing DD, yes, I do. Here is the link to his HOA newsletter that he is quoted in. Page 9 'Mens Club', or simply search for 'Kukkonen'

And here is the specific quote:

On March 1, our own Carl Kukkonen gave us a spellbinding
overview of his adventures in Granada, Nicaragua. His
most telling recommendation was that he was soon to depart
on his 19th trip there in the last five years, and that he had
purchased a house there (to renovate as a spare time activity)."

Oh, one other thing. You notice in the article he is quoted as saying they are "trips" not business trips. No mention of business at all.
