The article does present it like it is but one thing my simple mind doesn't comprehend:
..going with the thought that "patients are taking longer to die" how will adding more patients to a study help those numbers? Almost all those being added now won't even become "events for many years.
Shouldn't they just add the needed 125 or so to replace the early enrolled patients and then end the study and wait for the required number of events. The patients from three years ago are key not those enrolled three months from now.
