There are better service out there. You not only see the bid and ask of each MM, you also see the size of each order as in actual number of shares.

For example, say ARCA 1.79 bid, 2000 shares actual order. Not just 1.79 x 20. That could be number of smaller orders like you pointed out. There are level 2 services that will list each trade, the number of shares on the bid or ask.

Whenever I put in a buy or a sell order, I could see my own order comes up and the MM handling my order and the exact shares I was biding or asking for.

If I see 2000 shares on ask at 1.9, and another 3000 shares at 1.8 on the ask out there, and I want 5000 share at 1.8 I knew my order isn't going to fill completely. I could easily tell if I put in a 5k order at 1.9 it will fill instantly sucking up both the 1.9 and 1.8 on the ask. Either that, or I wait to see if anymore on lower ask. You don't need level 3 to see enough of the details.
