My options on VIX captured about 450% today and I am now out to Oct. strikes.

Do you think this correction might be deeper than the 2040 range (assuming it maybe touches there to fill that gap area. I just have a hard time thinking that SPX would go towards the Feb gaps, but who knows what is really spooking the market and who is behind this dump? In 2011 this went up to the $80 range in that fall correction.
