Yeah, Goldmont doesn't look like it stood a chance against the top ARM/Qualcomm mobile cores. Murthy admitted at a recent investor conference that they cancelled Broxton/SoFIA because they wouldn't be competitive.

Such a disappointment, billions wasted on these SoCs that went nowhere.

Yeah, looks like a big fail from Intel's engineers from the ground up. Power consumption significantly increased and speed only increased by 30%? Are there any capable engineers left at Intel? This is ridiculous, not even touching the issue of not being able to integrate their own modem, while Samsung (and Mediatek) silently did all this in a much shorter period of time. It really looks like Intel isn't prepared for the competition that is coming. Be it mobile, desktop, server or foundry. This company just seems to consist of a bunch of losers these days. Did Apple buy all the capable guys from Intel?
