and re GM - best I recall the equity was 100% wiped out

Bond holders got beat us as well - getting a very low % on the dollar face (me included)

GOV and Canada and public got the new equity in return for the massive bailout

unions had to take a big hit in rules and pay - but they got cash to fund a VEBA and took few shares as they needed the cash to fund and pay the new obligation they took on that the companies shed (VEBA and pension)
