Personally I don't buy into the total position of just shorts playing this as some kind of nefarious entity looking to destroy the share price.

Hedge funds do exactly what they are named for.....they hedge a long position with a short position until news.

I didn't expect it to rise because I figured many would go long only after the Amgen news. And I still believe that is a correct assumption.

But because it did increase all it signals to me is more hedge funds took new positions.... hedged by going both short and long.....after the Amgen news.
