If he doesn't know anything the easy way to avoid being mocked for ignorance is to stop pretending he does. Honesty isn't that hard a concept. Even Madmen have heard of it.
You're a due dilligence kinda guy --- has yours revealed anything about contract impediments, or financing? Does it trouble you even a little that the website hasn't been updated in ages or that the corporate office is in a major shareholder's business? Or that the lawyers withdrew for lack of payment? Any of this bother you at all?
