Haha...i have a trick to remember the elements of adverse possession...CHEVAL is my mneumonic. Cheval means, in the dictionary, the taking of ones horse. Kind of reminds me of adverse possession so its always served me well.

Of course, possession thru adverse possession is very hard to prove...but not impossible. The hardest part is proving hostility. Not having permission is not enough to show hostility. You must show that they knew you were there (or should have known), didnt want you there and you were still there. If they "let" you be there, its not adverse possession. A court determines that of course.
