I started doing stocks about 30 years ago. E trade did not exist then I do not know if online trading existed at all when I first started. I used my accounting firm to buy and sell for me. that was about when the dot com was first taking off. My broker slow and had issues keeping up with my instructions. I found online trading, and never looked back. Real time streaming quotes helps when you want to trade. Something I think all online brokers like E trade provide free. . In my opinion watching real time quotes as a bases to trade is a mistake, when compared to using that time for research.
