If I were taking care of a parent with Alzheimers I'd do everything in my power to try the protocol. Especially, if early stage, in hopes of it getting worse.

I spent quite a bit of time nursing a staffie back from a stroke a few years ago. If I can nurse a dog I'm sure I'd be willing to nurse someone close to me. Or, at least monitor their caregiver.

But, you make a valid point since most aren't in a position to spend that much time on someone, even if they had the knowledge to do so.

I truly hope your Anavex truly does have a drug that shows definitive efficacy. A daily pill regime would be a lot simpler for all concerned.

The problem with the Buck institute stuff is it is too complex and too individualized to be practical. It would take a supervising attendant during all waking hours to keep a patient on the protocol. Not practical outside of a subsidized university experiment.

Short excerpt

The Alzheimer’s Association has announced a new $7 million investment in clinical trials targeting brain inflammation — but with a twist.

Four cutting-edge studies will receive $1 million each over 2 years, but the remainder will go to the clinical trial that demonstrates the most promise for treating Alzheimer’s disease.
