Silk started in I think China. There was always a huge market for it. It is a long story how it was discovered how to weave it and how that secret was stolen from one country by another. Only the wealthiest could afford it. But the country that stole how to weave it found out how to do it faster and cheaper so other people could buy it. And the country that stole how to do it created so much wealth their economy took off. I think the country was England, but not sure. Punch up silk on a google search. The history of the product is quite a story. The whole world wants silk. And now this stuff is even better than kevlar. A hair less strong than kevlar, but flexes better, and is lighter, and it endures far better than normal silk.
