When a person gets to a certain level of wealth it's ceases being about the money. Another million does not matter.

This is a ridiculous generalization. As a billionaire once said: a million dollars is still a million dollars.

There's an easy way to show that you are wrong about your assessment of the management's motivation: Theracour marks up their direct and indirect costs charged back to NNVC by 30%. If they were in this for altruistic reasons, that would not be the case.
