So if they buy back say another 30M shares there will be about 500M outstanding and given (guess) 80% institutional that leaves 100M with about 10M traded daily. Does not seem to tight a market even then (just my feeling - no real knowledge)

They are not retiring shares that are being bought back. They are putting them in the Co's treasury for further use.
