Sticking a needle into a cancerous breast can be like poking a hornet's nest; it most certainly can provoke MICRO metastases along the needle track and systemically. But you already knew that. And there is adjuvant treatment for it as well.




No, a single cell isn't going to make a metastatic tumor. Tumors are shedding cells all the time. It takes a number of changes in the tumor cells to enable it to adapt to and grow at distal loci, or as you put it systemically. If it was as dangerous as you suggest, then biopsies wouldn't be done.
