SUMMARY (Updated): Pursuing Significant Revenues Opportunities/Ventures; Alchemy Implosion

It is our belief that a substantial amount of recovery is possible... and simultaneously, HHSE / Medallion are being solicited to take-over distribution duties for many of the Supplier studios formerly represented by Alchemy. So for HHSE / Medallion and the key Supplier studios, there appears to be a golden-lining to the Alchemy storm clouds. More news will be posted as authorization is obtained.

PLEASE NOTE: There are several parallel paths being pursued by HHSE / MEDALLION at present involving Alchemy matters - and an exciting variety of new opportunities that have presented themselves to HHSE / MEDALLION as a result of the Alchemy implosion. Any one of these opportunities / ventures could significantly change the stature and revenues of HHSE / MEDALLION. Accordingly, Management has been focused and occupied for the past week on the pursuit of these significant opportunities.

Recent news that Our Alchemy LLC. ceased operations and is filing Bankruptcy. The case has now been formally converted from Chapter 7 no-asset liquidation, to "Asset" based, and all creditors are being notified.

This development has big implications For HHSE / Medallion:

1.) Alchemy owes HHSE about $754,000. Since the case has now been formally converted to "Asset" based, there is a chance that HHSE may be able to recover some of that monies.

2.) The cessation of Alchemy has left a void in Distribution Duties of Entertainment Industry. HHSE is/has been Pursuing Significant Revenue Changing Opportunities/Ventures. Simply put, HHSE may be able to assume/acquire/take-over a chunk(s) of Alchemy former business.

3.) Alchemy former business in simple terms:
a.) Various Distribution Duties for Supplier Studios.
b.) Valuable "Vendor" Access to Walmart and Target Stores.
c.) Alchemy owns 1,000 Titles Film Library (of which 250 are considered "high-profile catalog" hits), and more than 50 new and unreleased titles.

Alchemy Files Bankruptcy, Long List Creditors; Info/Links

Be advised: This article is dated July 7. Circumstances have changed since that time. Thanks to HHSE request and assistance, conversion of the Alchemy Bankruptcy from a Chapter 7 no-asset liquidation, into a significant "asset-based" case.

Also noteworthy for HHSE funds recovery, is the naming of Anderson Digital as a second debtor.

The article does provides other info and insight.

Alchemy Files For Chapter 7, Names Long List Of Creditors

July 7, 2016

Alchemy, the distribution company formerly known as Millennium Entertainment, filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection on Friday in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Delaware, court records show. In its petition with the court, the state that they have $50M to $100M in liabilities compared to $10M to $50M in assets. The company has yet to file financials or a schedule with the court so more will be revealed when they do.

A Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection — also known as liquidation — will allow Alchemy to relieve itself of debt by selling off assets so at least some creditors can get paid.
Because Alchemy acquired content distribution outfit Anderson Digital a year ago, there was a separate filling for that company. So there are two debtors but leaving a long list of creditors that runs over 290 pages.

In the petition filed with the court, it states that it has 200 to 999 creditors, however other documents show about 8,700 — in fact, 290 pages of creditors that includes CAA, ICM and WME, the DGA, PGA and WGA pension and health plans, the IRS, Anchor Bay Entertainment, American Express, House of Blues, AFM, Showtime and HBO, to name only a handful. Take a look at the long list of creditors here.

The filing was not unexpected as Deadline first reported the financial woes of the company was pushing the company into bankruptcy last month. In February it began selling off titles — like The Lobster to A24 — and then began laying off its staff. As we have seen with other bankruptcy proceedings (such as Relativity), a company’s workforce is always affected. In this case, about 40% to 50% were let go with another round of layoffs hitting last month.

At least one creditor – faith-based DVD and Blu-ray movie company Excel Entertainment — filed suit seeking $838,074.45 from an Alchemy, noting that it hadn’t gotten paid since September 2015. With few assets to liquidate, we doubt its creditors will see much of anything. The Bankruptcy trustee lawyer was unreachable at press time.
