HyperSolar's tech would do the opposite of reverse osmosis by removing the H2 & O from the sea water. Hypersolar's tech is more closely related to a distilling process; the difference being, instead of turn the water directly into stream then condensing it back into water, the electrolysis turn the water into Hydrogen and Oxygen. In order to turn the H2 & O back into water, you either have to burn it, or run it through a fuel cell. In either case, you'll be left with a salty sludge and excess CO2 that was suspended in the water. However, the CO2 can be collected and ran through a Fischer-Tropsch process with the Hydrogen to create ultra pure diesel.
So win-win either way.
