Intuitive has been making some interesting moves lately. I've seen them selling a stripped down version of the Si system to some customers, and others are getting a handsome discount on refurbished Si's. The first strategy is built to get the hospital to make the capital expenditure, only to find later that they really need a fourth arm or the simulator module to utilize their investment effectively. The second strategy is targeted at smaller surgery centers that want to do robotic surgery but can't afford a new system.
Both strategies are clearly targeted at getting an Intuitive product on the ground before the competition starts coming out of the woodwork.
