Actually, ESRD population is ~700k and growing at 3-4% annually. Not a good thing, but I wouldn't start screaming "obesity epidemic." Some of this growth is natural - even without increasing obesity and diabetes rates, just because people live longer they are more likely to end up getting ESRD - organs wear out.
