I follow a lot of scammy companies ranging from the most obvious, pathetic desert dirt scams to some companies like LBSR that I hesitate to even call a scam. But one thing in common with many of them - the head guy is often very personable, very persuasive, and prone to stretching the truth sometimes.

With personal meetings, driving together around the mining properties, friendly correspondence over the years, etc. an investor tends to forget they are dealing with someone whose business depends on their salesmanship. And since the CEO is now a "friend", the investor finds it very hard to think critically.
