No they weren't "FREE" its incentive program, if you think busnell was given free shares to just sit there and not produce value... you are wrong... and those shares that haven't matured likely don't stay with him if he leaves the company before those dates...

Compensation? That would not be for free. It means he would be expected to do something to earn them? Incentive to do something?

Maybe he would like to have something to do with raising the pps over the4 next year? A vested interest to achieve results?

It's not really that many shares considering.
