Why would a person need an assault weapon unless they are in law enforcement or the military?

I completely agree regarding the assault weapons... there is no need for them. I have fired them... they are not accurate enough for hunting in my opinion. They are only good for killing. For home defense, a shotgun is much more effective, and maybe a pistol hidden somewhere else in the house. The AR-15 type weapon is just something that bolsters some folk's egos... men and women.

I grew up in the West, Colorado Rockies, and hunting was a way of life for most of us... hell, we were excused from school to go hunting in my town. I've enjoyed big game hunting, bird hunting, varmint/squirrel/rabbit hunting... pretty much out grown it. I have accumulated several guns (4 shotguns, 4 rifles, 3 pistols)... more than I need... but some are quite valuable. I have never sold a gun or rifle... had one stolen one time and didn't even know it until a couple of years later. I guess my wife and kids can sell my guns when I pass or keep those that they want.

But this whole thing that the AR-15 is a hunting rifle is a joke, it is for killing humans, period, and is not that effective for home defense either... a pump shotgun and a hidden pistol and two yapping chihuahuas is all I need, LOL!

All, just my opinion of course.
