fred, yep,...the neutral grip is the foundation to be able to fully release the club without having to compensate with some unecessary body action....but, puting the club in the fingers allows a right angle to be formed by the shaft and its relation to the left forearm... this angle increases the whipping action of the club through the impact area...thereby increasing club head speed....just make sure that when you grip with the left hand that you do it in the order first the fingers, then the thumb on the center of the shaft, and then finally wrap the left palm on the club...if you do it correctly, the "V" formed by the the thumb and forefinger of your left hand should point to your right shoulder at address.....some would mistake this for a somewhat strong grip, but the fact that the left thumb is still on the center of the shaft makes it neutral....a truly strong grip has the left thumb rotated to the right...

as for the stiff left arm and squaring the face at address,... yes. the club should be in line with the inside of your left foot(or left pocket) at address...glty

Why aren't we having contests for the Seniors British For that matter of fact next weeks Womens British Open. We all love these competitions!
