I agree with everything you say, but in this scenario wiping out commons 100% is not fair when company has enough money to run the operations for next couple of years, debt is going to mature only after 2020, till then company have enough money to pay interest.

They have been making the payments and have the money to make the payments.
The analogy here with a car is
you are making your payments. but the car is worth less the the amount owed.

So the lender is taking the car back. And management is handing them the keys, but lender cannot come back for any further debt.

OPEC won. Another U.S oil giant crushed. I feel bad for the investors / traders who bought into this, but you all knew the risk going into this. What will happen to everyones shares here?
