Often times early on in the AM and after the market closes you will see a very high ask price and a very low bid. After the close many market makers take their orders out so L2 then jump to very high and low #'s on the bid and ask. Typically about 1-1 1/2 hours before the opening things adjust back to normal #'s as the market makers get their orders back up on L2. Hope this helps.
