http://www.patheos.com/blogs/friendlyatheist/2016/03/20/sham-pediatric-group-allowing-kids-to-choose-their-gender-amounts-to-child-abuse/
An organization of pediatricians recently issued a damning report against the very notion of gender identity, saying that letting children “pick their gender amounts to child abuse.”
The American College of Pediatricians issued a strong recommendation based on their report: They said legislators and educators should basically reject all policies involving transgender children -- no chemicals, no surgery, no accommodations.
The Religious Right has been saying this for years, and now they have a professional organization backing them up. Unbelievable, isn’t it?
Yes it is.
Literally.
Because the American College of Pediatricians isn’t a legitimate organization dedicated to science. It’s a conservative group consisting of a couple hundred members (tops) that requires prospective members to accept a certain set of ideologies.
If you’re looking for the organization that represents what the best pediatricians in the country have to say, you’d want to check out the American Academy of Pediatrics. That’s the organization with more than 60,000 members and trusted by scientists everywhere.
The Fake American College of Pediatricians decided more than a decade ago to mimic the name, website, and mission of the AAP in order to trick people into accepting their recommendations on everything from abortion policy to LGBT issues.
So what does the Fake American College of Pediatricians say about gender identity and transgender issues?
They said suicide rates are 20 times higher for adults who undergo hormone therapy and have sex reassignment surgery. And no compassionate or reasonable person would condemn someone to that fate.
That suggests the hormones and surgery cause the suicides. The truth is the suicide rates are higher in that community because transgender kids are more likely to be bullied, beaten, and shunned by the general public.
The problem isn't who they are. The problem is the bullying they get from Jesus-loving Christians.
Basically, for every bullshit claim made by the conservative group, the real experts say something different (and only the real experts have credible research to back it up).
You might ask: Are the members of the American College of Pediatricians actual doctors? Yes they are. But there are also Ph.D.s who work at the Creation Museum. It doesn’t mean they’re great scientists. (Remember Dr. Ben Carson?)
The question you should be asking is what does it take to become a member of each groups? Outside of membership dues, the AAP just requires you to have proper credentials, whether you’re a board certified physician or a medical student.
The fake American College of Pediatricians group requires you to accept their mission/vision statements, which say things like only straight couples can raise kids properly.
In other words, if you think gay parents aren’t a problem, say sex positivity is healthy, and believe women should have the right to an abortion, you’re not allowed to be a member.
They’ve already made those decisions for you. That’s why they say things like induced abortions lead to breast cancer, even though we know that’s not true.

The rights of the majority are often ignored when the focus is on the rights of the minority.

What an idiotic bastardization of de Toqueville's quote about the rights of the minority needing protection from the tyranny of the majority. You clearly have no understanding of democracy, the Constitution, or anything else fundamental to our republic.

To you, the majority is a victim because you are part of it and cannot bear to allow the minority rights on things so simple as taking a piss. You need to inject your idea of government into the bathroom, just another pretension of hating big government, unless it suits your agenda and then more laws are better.

What is it about you republicans that always associate bathroom functions with sex? There are no cases of transgenders abusing children in bathrooms known, but how many cases are there of republicans abusing children? Hastert, anyone? You guys revel in hypocrisy. If you truly want to keep bathrooms safer, wouldn't the logical thing be to ban sex offenders from public bathrooms instead of banning law abiding people of vague gender identity? What's the matter? Benghazi not working for you this week?
