When I was in little league I struck out a lot. My problem was simply basic fundamentals. I ALWAYS moved my back foot. As I got older, a good coach showed me what I was doing wrong. Having the bad habit ingrained in me it was difficult to fix. Eventually, I learned that if I kept my front foot on its tip toe I could no longer move my back foot. It worked and I was no longer the strike out king. On a whim, I thought I'd try batting from the opposite side. No more tip toe needed. The foot that I previously had a problem with moving too much was now supposed to move. I had a little less power but the strikeouts stopped.

Moral to the story and continuation of the analogy...

Fundamentals always win in the end. But... you have to be willing to look at both sides of the plate to gain a bigger perspective and understanding of the game.
