That's crazy-- I mean closed loop control with wire-feed (like in welding) is literally our patent....not to mention our oldest tech/what we've been doing the longest/ something we've actually sold.... [all those closed loop weld pictures in their papers, the 2011/12 work...] and didn't Mark say we were working with a Phillips? Hmmm....... Idk what to think about this.

I don't qualify as a brainy 3D engineer, but from their web page, it appears that the Sciaky system is a wire feed type additive welding machine as opposed to a powder bed AM machine. So it would seem to compare more to the low cost welding machine SGLB was working on with a university in the North East than with the systems that PR3D is intended.

These systems all combine computer-aided design (CAD), electron beam directed energy deposition, and layer-additive processing. Starting with a 3D model from a CAD program, Sciaky's electron beam (EB) gun deposits metal (via wire feedstock) in successive layers until the part reaches near-net shape. Each system’s vacuum chamber ensures the highest part integrity, while the EB gun maximizes material deposition rates by a range of 7 to 20 lbs. of metal per hour, which is the fastest and most efficient metal deposition process on the market. In addition, many EBAM™ systems offer dual wirefeed arrangements to increase deposition efficiency, as well as to simplify the process of switching to different deposition materials. Minor finish machining is required after the part reaches near-net shape.

Will one of you Brainy 3D Engineers please explain how this system differs from ours and that SGLB'S System is still very much in play. Thanks in advance.

Guy,

The Sciaky system comes up from time to time, and we get the same reaction from SGLB investors here. The IRISS system is only applicable to Sciaky machines. It is not machine agnostic. And it is only for the electron beam machine. It is not universal in any way. When they say scalable and closed loop control, and all that, they are meaning that the IRISS system can be employed on the various EBAM machines in the Sciaky line of products, and that it can interact with the beam control. There is no analytic algorithm, no predictive outcome, and no a-priori model. It doesn't even come close to the power of PR3D.

All the best,
Silversmith
