I'm thinking Karp will take over soon, with Phil as a 'background' guy. Makes me think Pinnacle have an exit strategy, I just don't see how this can be viewed any other way (unless Karp is a Pinnacle man) JMHO

Why would Phil forfeit ~5M stock options if he is planning to stick around? Do you think a salary of $125k (or even $250k for that matter) is going to keep Phil happy until next year?! He's out the door as soon as he gets what he's looking for.

What value do you think Phil placed on those ~5M stock options? Not much to walk away from them. Phil has spoken. And so has 64 year old Dan when he renegotiated his contract. They know the truth about this fairy tale. It's a much bigger gamble than they initially envisioned.
