You are exactly right. Our nation is being hijacked from right under our noses. Richard Epstein sums it up perfectly here:

You know, no matter how this case turns out...we have already lost as a nation. I have lost respect for our system, it's leaders and moral fiber that is absent. I have gained respect for greed, corruption and lies. Our country was founded by men that took oaths. We do not have that presently. This case is larger than two companies, it's about following a law. Without a rule of law, we become lawless animals without code or regard for anything.
