Johnnie Johnson, Lucky Four

Lucky Four is about the great love Johnnie had for his wife Frances. Johnnie and Frances were married on Valentine's Day 1991 - yes, Johnnie was a sentimental, sappy,.old fashioned gentleman. Frances was Johnnie's fourth wife. They shared, a very for real, lived in, comedic, robust, and eventful kind of love. Johnnie was living a happy life. It was great to see this love, and the place Johnnie was at in his life. One day I had the thought that Four was Johnnie's lucky number. So I wrote the lyric, hearing Johnnie's piano in my head all the while. Listening to the words, you'll`chuckle a little if you know that a previous wife tried to kill the man twice. Stabbed him one time. Shot him another. Frances only contemplated killing him.:-). We recorded this late in 04 during the session for, Johnnie Be Eighty. And Still Bad!. Johnnie did not feel he could sing his best at the time. Larry Thurston was the vocalist on this song. The photograph in the video is copyrighted by Les Reader.
