Jess, obviously we need to see the transfer of power change from the shorts who have been in control for some time now. For sure, they are savvy and we can only surmise why they are still there at this time with a lot of shares as all indications say that they are on the wrong side of things to come.
My personal opinion is that they see the handwriting on the wall and are being very careful about starting a "short squeeze" with covering at a high rate thus only a reduction of 10-15% every 15 days.
I can tell you one thing, the last thing in the world I would want right now is to be "short overnight". Either they know something that we don't know, know that they won't be hurt without warning or they are just plain playing with fire.
